The depth of insertion can be different depending on the location of the acupoint. Although the average depth is approximately one-half inch, it can be as little as one- tenth of an inch, or up to a few inches for larger developed muscles, depending upon specific location and the individual.

Yes, most herbs will have no side effect on pregnant women. In fact many herbs can prevent morning sickness and miscarriage. However, there is a clear list of approximately 20 herbs which are contraindicated during pregnancy. Dr. Barrett is well aware of these herbs and will not prescribe them during pregnancy.

Yes, today most insurance plans cover Acupuncture and East-West Medicine. Most PPO Insurance, Veteran’s Administration Insurance, Automobile Accident Insurance and Workers Comp Injury Insurance will cover Acupuncture and East-West Medicine treatments.  However all plans are different and verification of coverage may be confusing. Our office utilizes the resources of a professional biller. As a service to our patients we confirm your coverage for you at no extra cost.
